Don’t Forget to Spoil Your Pet!

7246756_l.jpgI have an amazing orange ball of fur in my life. His name is Turkey and I’ve had the pleasure of knowing him for eight lovely years. I must say every once in a while a very special animal will cross your path, and Turkey is by far the most loving, communicative cat I have ever met in my life. Last year for christmas his stocking was overflowing more so than mine.

ppets-3927139t400.jpgLet me show you a few of the items we purchased for him last year. First, the hideaway bed. This isn’t the exact model but it gives you a good idea of what I’m talking about. Turkey was hesitant to use it at first. Then I decided if he isn’t going to use the damn thing I’ll use it to store his toys. After seeing all of his most prized possessions hanging out inside he warmed up to the idea of curling up for a snuggly nap inside the bed. Now he absolutely loves it!

Speaking of most prized possessions, I should tell you that his absolute favorite toy is a measuring tape. He goes nuts when he hears me pick it up, even! Such a diva but so easy to please. We also bought him a stocking full of kitty treats, misc toys and catnip. He has a refillable leopard print catnip mouse toy that he goes bonkers over.

ppets-3765364t400.jpgThis kitty perch is on my wishlist for him this season! Even thought it is so effing cold outside that he probably wouldn’t get to use it until spring… boo! He loves to sit in windows so I think he would really enjoy having his own little perch (especially since he is a plus sized baby and at times can barely fit in the windowsill!)

cat_feeders-bowls-sub.jpgWhen it comes to drinking water he is very particular. He likes for his water to be cold.. he even enjoys an ice cube or two in the bowl! And tap water? Forget about it. Though I wouldn’t make my worst enemy drink the tap water here (we have a well and it takes very metallic.. no amount of filtering seems to get rid of that taste!). I really would love to purchase a water fountain for him and fill it with his favorite bottled/spring water!

Unfortunately I do not know of any indie/diy online pet shops… so this is where you come in! Have you stumbled across any? Do you run one? If so please, please, please post the links in the comments!

So regardless of species.. be sure and include a spot on your christmas shopping list fo the manimal(s) in your life!

Ikea, How I Love Thee.

38221_pe130120_s3.jpgI got this awesome coffee table (after months upon months of not having one) for house/pet sitting for a friend while she was in the process of moving. Pretty sweet deal! And my first thing ever from Ikea! The table is great… my apartment is really small so it acts not only as a coffee table but also a laptop desk. I also love how it is low to the ground like my futon. Of course the last time I moved it got a little dinged up but I just throw a coaster over the scratch and no one notices. :)

I used to make regular trips to Atlanta to go shopping. My friends and I would make a weekend out of it. We’d save up, go see a show and then hit little five points and the various malls. The last time I was there we saw the construction for the Ikea store which made me insanely happy because I’d been browsing their online store for years. Wouldn’t cha know it.. I haven’t made it back to ATL since the store opened.

I love their products but I must say that their new website is on my nerves. It isn’t all that easy to navigate on a laptop and I really, really do not like flash. But it’s Ikea, so I forgive them. ON TO AWESOMENESS!

lamp.jpgI’m a virgo (leo/virgo cusp if you wanna get technical!) so the Five steps to getting organized tutorial makes me all warm and fuzzy. Ikea’s storage and organizers are one of the things that originally attracted me to the company.

Most of the items you find at Ikea you will not find anywhere else. I love the mod-esque design to a lot of their products. Check out these floor/wall lamps. I’d love to buy a few of them in different colors and place them strategically around my living room!

pillows.jpgShow me another store that sells super cute throw pillows for under $10 a piece? I know in a previous post I wrote about trying to stay away from heart shaped items but, dammit, I just can’t! These would look amazing on my futon with the leopard print pillow I have at the moment. Red, black, leopard print… just can’t go wrong!

ent.jpgI absolutely *hate* my current entertainment center. It’s huge! I have most of it filled up with photos, books and candles. This one would match the awesome coffee table I mentioned above and is only $70! I hope they don’t sell out of them before I can afford to buy one. Maybe I could put mine on craigs list and start saving!

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Whether I’m making a vegetarian meal for myself, prepping some veggies for easy snacks during the week, mixing some drinks for friends or spoiling my kitty cat with a nice protein enriched meal (he’s on a strict diet because of some past medical issues). I love to cook! I would love nothing more than to buy a fondue pot and have people over for some cheesy goodness. Especially since the only fondue restaurant we had here in Asheville got flooded before I ever got to go!

Okay, okay I’m going to just stop looking at the site because as inexpensive as all of these things are… it’s holiday shopping time so I can’t really justify buying things for myself, now, can I?

Bring Sexy Back this Christmas

211225.jpgThank goodness for the internet, right boys? Now you can buy your significant other exactly what you’ve been dying to see her in but too afraid of running into your beer drinking buddies while shopping for…. Lingerie!

There are a few simple things you’ll need to know. The first being the girls size. The best way to find out is to look through her panty drawer! This way you not only find out her size but you will see what colors she prefers, what colors she has too many of, and this can also help prevent the purchase of something she already owns.

80174.jpgIf you are scared of getting caught pawing around in her underwear drawer (scene out of a bad romantic comedy, anyone?) then get on the phone and call one of her friends for help. If her friends are all prudes or if that is still too awkward for you then I recommend the wishlist approach.

See if you can get your girlfriend to set up a wishlist on a site like Kaboodle. Kaboodle will let you save *any* item from *any* website to your own wishlist that you can keep and use for any occasion! Mainstream sites like Victoria’s Secret and Amazon.com also allow people to save wishlists. You can’t go wrong with the wishlist, she’ll save what she wants and she’ll save it in her size. The gift wont be as much of a surprise but she’s guaranteed to love it!

80291.jpgNow that the hard part is done here some tips for buying your first intimate gift. Obviously you don’t want to go straight for the cat of nine tails with matching handcuffs. Unless you’re dating one of my friends. *wink*

By now you should know what parts of her body she likes to accentuate. If you want her to wear what you buy then you need to keep in mind her favorite part of her body, not yours!

41t7s8br0al_aa280_.jpgIf you’ve been talking about spicing things up a bit in the bedroom and want to make a bold but safe purchase you could pair the above item with a set of sexy heels. I suppose it all depends on your budget and it goes without saying that nice lingerie doesn’t come cheap… though Angels Desire has some nice pieces for very reasonable prices.
