Ikea, How I Love Thee.

38221_pe130120_s3.jpgI got this awesome coffee table (after months upon months of not having one) for house/pet sitting for a friend while she was in the process of moving. Pretty sweet deal! And my first thing ever from Ikea! The table is great… my apartment is really small so it acts not only as a coffee table but also a laptop desk. I also love how it is low to the ground like my futon. Of course the last time I moved it got a little dinged up but I just throw a coaster over the scratch and no one notices. :)

I used to make regular trips to Atlanta to go shopping. My friends and I would make a weekend out of it. We’d save up, go see a show and then hit little five points and the various malls. The last time I was there we saw the construction for the Ikea store which made me insanely happy because I’d been browsing their online store for years. Wouldn’t cha know it.. I haven’t made it back to ATL since the store opened.

I love their products but I must say that their new website is on my nerves. It isn’t all that easy to navigate on a laptop and I really, really do not like flash. But it’s Ikea, so I forgive them. ON TO AWESOMENESS!

lamp.jpgI’m a virgo (leo/virgo cusp if you wanna get technical!) so the Five steps to getting organized tutorial makes me all warm and fuzzy. Ikea’s storage and organizers are one of the things that originally attracted me to the company.

Most of the items you find at Ikea you will not find anywhere else. I love the mod-esque design to a lot of their products. Check out these floor/wall lamps. I’d love to buy a few of them in different colors and place them strategically around my living room!

pillows.jpgShow me another store that sells super cute throw pillows for under $10 a piece? I know in a previous post I wrote about trying to stay away from heart shaped items but, dammit, I just can’t! These would look amazing on my futon with the leopard print pillow I have at the moment. Red, black, leopard print… just can’t go wrong!

ent.jpgI absolutely *hate* my current entertainment center. It’s huge! I have most of it filled up with photos, books and candles. This one would match the awesome coffee table I mentioned above and is only $70! I hope they don’t sell out of them before I can afford to buy one. Maybe I could put mine on craigs list and start saving!

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Whether I’m making a vegetarian meal for myself, prepping some veggies for easy snacks during the week, mixing some drinks for friends or spoiling my kitty cat with a nice protein enriched meal (he’s on a strict diet because of some past medical issues). I love to cook! I would love nothing more than to buy a fondue pot and have people over for some cheesy goodness. Especially since the only fondue restaurant we had here in Asheville got flooded before I ever got to go!

Okay, okay I’m going to just stop looking at the site because as inexpensive as all of these things are… it’s holiday shopping time so I can’t really justify buying things for myself, now, can I?
