Lulu’s - An Awesome Find!

Yet they found me!

I had an email from Lulus.com. They graciously complimented me on my site and offered to extend a coupon code to me and YOU! I especially love all of their accessories and the wallet selection is making me wish I hadn’t just bought a new wallet today!

Dresses are the must have item this summer. I look ridiculous in the traditional cotton summer (thanks, Double D’s! haha) dress so I avoid those at all costs. I found this cute, 80s inspired dress at Lulu’s. I absolutely adore it!

A Post for The Men

Once upon a time, in a land that is probably nowhere close to where you live, I worked in a tuxedo rental shop. I must say it was not the best job I’ve ever had but I did get to help strapping young men into their tuxedo’s and suits. So it wasn’t all bad! My favorite part is the cufflinks, yes, because I am an accessory fiend! You’d be surprised how many customers were perplexed by the small little buggers.

Today I found a site that offers Unique Cufflinks and accessories for men. You can shop by style, color and more. The mechanical cufflinks are by far the most imaginative. Just check out the three fun designs below to see why the creator Robert Tateossian is dubbed The King of Cufflinks!

Though this post is mainly for the men, Tateossian.com does also carry some great accessories for women as well.

Jewelry Preview

I’ve got a few more pieces made. I’m going to preview them here since the shop won’t be up and running until (probably) next month. I’ve still got to think of a name for the shop. Maybe just ‘gerl’ since I’ve been using that for around a decade…? Perhaps.

I found out today that I’ll be getting a couple hundred dollars back from taxes! Which means I can invest in more craft supplies and maybe even a sewing machine! *excited*

Heart & Key Necklace

I went shopping for some craft supplies yesterday and found more than I could afford! One of the places I went is having a huge sale on Saturday so you can bet I’ll be returning. :D

Here’s the third necklace I made… Let me know what you think in the comments!

The more experience I gain with jewelry making the more I can’t wait to open a shop here at Mod Gerl. I think I’ll make that one of my many goals this year.

Have you been to jewelry wholesaler? They have a ton of jewelry at really great prices… perfect if you are going to open an online or physical boutique. They have already made earrings, necklaces, headbands and more. It would be a great way to supplement inventory until I can make enough of my own! That site is definitely going in the bookmarks!

I DIY!

I’m finally getting around to posting the pics of my moms birthday present. I decided I’d make her a card and a necklace. I’m pretty new at making necklaces. I used to do a lot of beading when I was in junior high but have long since forgotten how the hell to do it!

So here are the pics!! Let me know what you think… I’d eventually like to have a store here at Mod Gerl showcasing my handmade necklaces and stuff.

My first project…. The mom’s bday.

The front of the super ghetto card I made her. She was impressed though!

The inside of the car.. and the necklace! It was nothing like my original idea but I was pressed for time and could not find a decent “J” charm anywhere. I think it turned out pretty good though (for a first try) and she loved it!

In the beginning they were supposed to be matching.. but again, no amazing “J” charm.. blah! So after coming across this lovely martini glass charm, well, I just couldn’t resist.

Leave me a comment! Let me know what ya think… I’m sure I’ll get more creative as time goes on. I’d like to make some more elaborate designs for sure.

Hot Sunglasses

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to make a post about sunglasses. My collection would be vast if people didn’t sit on, step on or steal them so often. Right now I only have four pairs. White, pink, black, and turtle colored. I used to have the very best green pair… but alas like so many of my other amazing pairs they were broken beyond repair.

80’s Purple has a very good collection of sunglasses. Though you can’t try them on most sunglass connoisseurs know what shapes and colors compliment their features. Take me for example.. I’ve only found one pair of aviators ever that didn’t look completely stupid on me. And that was at the dollar general! haha

I’ll start with the most expensive pair first! Which I think I only like because they are named Burlesque and come in red as well as white.

But at $275 a pop you’ll never catch me buying them. Nope, not with my disastrous track record!

Now on to more reasonably priced glasses! From around 12-15$ (that’s what you would pay at the mall or target for a decent cheap pair):

I dub these huge black sunglasses the HANGOVER-walk-of-shame glasses! Every prepared party girl needs a pair of these. I’ll take two!

Another oversized pair. Black glasses with a lil bit of glam-rock and roll… love it!

Green..! These could almost replace my recently destroyed green sunglasses that I loved.

Girly, pink, and huge.. these are different enough in shape and color so they would make a nice addition to any collection.
